An Adults-Only Oasis Awaits at Sofitel Waitui Beach Club

I’m fortunate to be able to experience what it’s like to stay in an adults-only sanctuary, and not just any. This is Waitui Beach Club within Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa. I might be in travel but I’m not given special treatment as every guest gets special treatment here.

I feel like I’m in an oasis of peace and tranquility the minute I step from the golf buggy that’s whisked me from the hotel’s main foyer to the Beach Club’s check-in cabana. I’m greeted with warm smiles and a cocktail to get me into relax mode. Yes, I’ve arrived! While I sip, taking in the views and stylish ambience of the luxurious lagoon pool surrounds, the delightful team deliver my bag to my room then join me on the short stroll to my room.

My room has everything I need and more. It’s modern and chic with a large walk-in shower and heavenly Fijian toiletries to pamper myself with. As a Waitui Club guest, I’m in the adults-only wing of the Sofitel Resort. When you move from the Club to your room, the quiet, relaxed feel accompanies you - bliss!

The extra personal touches go a long way. There’s a mini bar that’s stocked to guests’ personal preferences. I am impressed by the choices of beer, wine, soft drinks and snacks and they’re replenished daily. A large bottle of water is also supplied, easily refilled at the filtered water stations on every floor.

The pool is calling. After a quick change into beach attire, I’m welcomed back to the Club by name and must make the big decision of the day - luxury lounger, cabana or daybed? My day spent poolside is a highlight with fresh fruit refreshments and local canapes served with a dose of Fijian happiness. Again, there are nice touches that continue into the happy hour Waitui-style when you’re encouraged to enjoy more snacks and a pre- dinner beverage.

Chefs prepare all meals within the Club in an open air bure-style kitchen. They wave and greet me as I meander past to the restaurant. A newly-built deck area enables me to dine beachside which adds to the atmosphere. The food is nothing short of superb with fresh local produce and a varied menu on offer. Presentation is top notch. It’s easy to see why this is a highly rated Denarau restaurant.

Breakfast is included which gets a ‘wow’ from me and is a far cry from the usual buffet madness. Seated beachside, watching the boats head off to the islands, I’m invited to select from a range of smoothies, grains and fresh local fruits. These are followed by coffee, juices and mimosa options. There’s also an à la carte menu.  I am in no rush to leave this idyllic spot - after all, it’s Fijian time.

Waitui is in a league of its own. It has a special feel, much of it due to the kind-hearted and exceptional staff. It’s a clever concept that gives you all the benefits of the exclusive Club with the option to venture out of the adults-only oasis to enjoy all the additional Sofitel 5-star resort facilities.

Waitui is the perfect choice for couples and groups of friends who seek a quiet haven within the busy Denarau area.
